How would you pick Vandal-Resistant Locksets? It seems easy just use a card, but I want to make sure.?
Any deadbolt lock is vandal-resistant. You can have all the locks in your home keyed to use the same key if you buy the same brand locks. However, don’t get a false sense of security by simply installing vandal-resistant locks. The key word here is resistant, and that does not translate to foolproof. Most adults can kick in a door in a matter of seconds if the casing around the door is wood. Most dwellings have windows, which a child can break and get into. Even if you install and pay an alarm company, most break-ins are what are called grab and run — i.e. they’re in and out before the alarm company can get someone there. However, most theives are lazy and will break into what they see as an easy job; therefore, the more resistant you make your dwelling, the less chance you have of someone ripping you off. Thieves generally won’t try to break into a structure if they hear a dog barking. If you don’t want the trouble of a live animal, rig up a recording of a dog barking. Check the internet for more ways to secure your dwelling and/or building. Some of the tips are very inexpensive.
