How to i hook up a bare coax to my cb antenna?
I was wondering how to hook up a bare coax wire ( the end is cut off ) to a connector that goes around a screw,its a ring that goes around a screw and a place that you crimp the wire to(I dont know how to explain it), to my 102″ whip. Im sorry this is such an uninformative question, but does anyone know what im talking about, and how to hook this up. Any advice will be appreciated, Thanks
solder a ring terminal to the center and the braid..
Use a very sharp knife.
CAREFULLY score the coax jacket about 2 inches back from the end.
CAREFULLY remove the jacket.
Push the braid back to where it flairs. Spread the flaired braid and carefully thread the center conductor out.
Pull the braid tightly so that the flair closes.
Seal the splice with a product called “Coax-Seal”. Coax cable braid acts like a moisture wick and you will destroy the coax in no time if it gets wet. The braid MUST BE CLEAN AND SHINY for the coax to work.
Solder terminal rings to the ends of the coax.
Connect the center to the center screw on the ball mount
connect the braid to one of the bolts that holds the ball mount to the metal car body.
