CCTV Camera – Guide to CCTV Cameras, Security Camera Systems, & Surveillance Cameras
CCTV stands for closed circuit TV and CCTV cameras have become significant factor in preventing crime. There are many types of video surveillance systems on the market, and each uses different types of cameras, depending on their application.
Low price CCTV cameras use CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) technology, which produces images of poor quality and has a low sensitivity to light. The higher priced cameras use CCD (Charge Couple Device) chips, and offers picture quality much better. CCD chips are 1/4-, 1/3- or 1/2-inch size, and both image quality and size of price increases.
Black and white cameras are generally cheaper and offer better processing of images in low light conditions. Color cameras are still the main option, but have a higher price. If the camera has to record at night or in dark areas, you need an IR (infrared) camera, which can be stored in black and white when the light is not present.
The image quality of a camera will be measured in TVL, or TV lines of resolution. Greater TVL will result in more lines of resolution and picture quality is much clearer. The standard size is 380 TVL to 420 TVL cameras high quality up to 480 TVL to 570 TVL.
Photosensitivity of the camera is measured in units called LUX higher number, the higher the amount of light needed to capture images. Cameras, which are very low LUX rating, the approach to zero is able to collect images in almost any light. If the area is light, constantly changing, the camera auto iris lens is needed to produce the best images. Manual or fixed iris lens compatible with the areas where the light output remains constant.
Width and height of the image size produced by the camera lens is called FOV or field of vision. If you know where the camera is placed, you can calculate the distance between the film and then the optimal target, which gives the maximum FOV.
The camera body is completely dependent on the development and implementation of the camera. A dome that has been dyed black is pleasing to the eye and allows a wide field of vision. Any device installed on the outside, have a robust protection.
The best camera closed circuit television you buy will be the one that best suits your environment and application. If it is necessary to record the fine details, you should consider buying a camera with high TVL. For the recording of images at night or in low light, an infrared camera is required. If you need a large space to save time, your first priority in choosing a camera should be one with a large field of view.
