How can I clean the inside of the lens on my camera?

Somehow a little black dot got on the inside of my camera lens and I tried every which way to clean it and blew on it and it fogged up on the inside and the pictures are just fog. What can I do?

If you can’t get to it by obvious means, then it’s beyond the ability of a novice to remove it.

To de-fog it, remove the battery and memory card, and put it in the airing cupboard for a day.

Once you’ve de-fogged it, take a photo of a very plain surface – say a painted wall – and look at the image to see if the dot is visible. If it is, then it’s time to get to know your local camera shop.
